Course Description:

This course aim to provide a complete understanding of seed nutrient density and its critical role in improving crop establishment, early growth, and yield potential. In this course will learn about physiological processes of seed germination, the essential nutrients required for seedling development, and the factors that influence nutrient availability from soil to seed. Through a combination of research trials, tissue and soil test data, and in-field examples, we will understand the principles of seed nutrition and  how seed nutrition can  help improve germination, crop uniformity, disease resistance, and long-term crop performance.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the three stages of seed germination and the physiological processes that occur at each stage.
  • Identify essential seed nutrients and their roles in seed development and early seedling growth.
  • Evaluate the impact of soil nutrient imbalances, nutrient mobility, pH, and environmental stress on seed nutrient density and crop performance.
  • Apply practical strategies, including seed nutrient dressings and foliar applications, to improve seedling establishment, uniformity, and yield.

Time: 45. Minutes
